How is this client so bad after so many years?

I just wrote this post to vent at how I can't comprehend how bad Riot Client is. I used to play League and this one time I wanted to play but the launcher kept disconnecting and automatically shutting down the launcher. Then now currently I play Valorant and I'm redownloading it and it's stuck at 0.1 kbps. Like how hard can it be to fix a client that's been made like 13 years ago? Like c'mon riot. Now I'm not a programmer but still this is really annoying and I do believe it could of have been fixed in 13 years.
