Is a Ridgeback a good first dog?
Post Body

Hey!

I currently live in an apartment and have seen that a Ridgeback can be a good apartment dog (given it gets exercise). I am a single guy who lives alone and have been thinking of getting a dog. I grew up in a cat family who remains a cat family but I think a more social animal would be better for me.

I am curious if you think a Ridgeback would be good as a first dog. In no way am I wanting to get an animal that I wouldn't be able to support properly for what they need. Currently my job allows me to work from home a lot however I don't expect the job to last forever so if I had a job where I was gone for 8 hours a day would it sustain itself well during that time?

Any info or feedback would be great. I have no plans to currently get one, instead I am wanting to go through and check out some different breeds to figure out which one would be a good match for me.

Thanks!
