First of all, let’s all agree that Riddim is first and foremost the best.
Second of all, he fucking killed it. If y’all were at Apocalypse yesterday and saw a solo guy in a zombie onesie getting extra weird, that was me.
Thirdly, I know the crowd in here is younger than me, but the combination of his “trench” (lol) and his style of DJing (w the rewinds) really reminds me of 2007-2010 “grimy” British dubstep (which isn’t a term I have heard people say in well over a decade).
This is an unpopular opinion but Riddim in general sounds more like an ode to older dubstep like Skream, Coki, 16Bit, and Requake, more so than it sounds like any of the brostep over the last 10 years.
I know you Riddim-purists will shoot this down, as you will only hear the differences, but I hear WAY more similarities.
Here are a few examples: IMO definitely precursors to Riddim
Requake - Waterdrops (2010) https://youtu.be/YtvDsVa4k5U?si=tK8bC2Br_1LNbMME
Coki - SpongeBob (2007) https://youtu.be/cIpc817U_R4?si=2wMBMklDc_LLEv86
Marchmellow - Reel Simple (2009) https://youtu.be/97IABEWok7M?si=p1dV7elg71Is848O
16Bit - M Dot Mosley (2009) https://youtu.be/7muPR2balpE?si=c7HvrdCh_L7QrOYZ
Skream - Filth (2008) https://youtu.be/E2aj-RkLZZk?si=OKYaXQrebtHLv5Fl
