The real question is does Rick has fellings for anyone ?

Let me explain... So we know Rick is an calloused, nihilist old man, who travel through different universes. He thinks nothing and nobody matters. This is well shown, by the fact that he changed of family a lot. Not even Morty is from his universe. But Birdperson is and he didnt have the same reaction than for the others when he died, he didnt just found a universe with another Birdperson, but was determined to save the one we see in the latest episode. When Rick asked Birdperson to follow him in his adventures, Birdperson refused, but it is more than just an unrequited love... That's the feeling that a person you respect, a bestfriend/a soulmate or anything, doesnt have the same feeling for you. Birdperson is the only one who truly understand Rick, but he knows that Rick has a destructive behavior and don't want to be part of all his shit.

Also I think Rick is often an asshole to Morty bc when he sees him, he just sees the pathetic replacement of what could be a adventurous lifee with someone who truly matters to him.
