Did Lyrica increase your pain levels?
Post Body

My doc's had me on Lyrica 75mg once a day for a few months. She prescribed it when I admitted that pain often kept me awake at night and I was eating Alleve like candy. At first I only took it on an as needed basis because I'd read that you can become habituated to it and you have to taper off of it. Then she told me I should take it every day as prescribed. So I started doing that.

Since early February, my pain levels (RA) have been through the roof and I'm back to eating Alleve like candy. We've been trying a few things: Switching temporarily from Enbrel to Humira didn't help, I'm working on getting my weight down and my exercise levels up, trying an anti-inflammatory diet. In addition to higher pain levels, I've noticed that the Lyrica is no longer helping me sleep well. It occurred to me last night as I lay awake that I think I'm habituated to it. I want to ask my doc to taper me off it. I do NOT want a stronger dose because that way lies addiction.

My question for you guys, is in the topic title. Am I wrong in thinking that it's very likely the Lyrica - or rather being habituated to it - has increased my pain levels? Did this happen to any of you?
