So why were adventure games so obtuse back in the day?

Post Body

Because it’s just that I was reading about the history of Sierra Entertainment regarding their games such as Police Quest, and something that I had a difficult time understanding was their design as many of their games they released in the early 90s were very obtuse in design.

I mean, just picture trying to play the original King’s Quest back then without a guide as the game was quite tricky to get through without one as again, I don’t understand why the company did that back in the day.

We did have magazines though, so we had at least some source for hints and cheats and bits of walkthroughs
