Hoping weāre not too late...
So the wife (48) and I (55) have done āpassiveā investing all our lives (i.e., putting as much in 401k and not obsessing) and are starting to prepare for retirement. Weāve tried to do some self education on all thatās coming - Medicare, taxes, trusts, etc but feels like we need some trusted help to get to the finish line. Weāve never used a financial planner and know itās late to start that relationship now. Looking for validation or a critique of my plan which is to find a fiduciary advisor who can assess our situation and give us a fixed fee gameplan to follow for retirement with maybe some rightsizing along the way. We donāt anticipate starting active investing at this stage - we have $1.6MM in 401s, 8-10 more years working and goals are retirement, tax minimization and planning for our 10 yr old child. My question; is there a trusted way to find / vet a fiduciary? Prefer face to face but Iād be open to virtual. Some initial visits to FINRA and financial advisor sites have produced some disappointing results so far.
