Is a Fiduciary the right choice?
Post Body

Hoping weā€™re not too late...

So the wife (48) and I (55) have done ā€œpassiveā€ investing all our lives (i.e., putting as much in 401k and not obsessing) and are starting to prepare for retirement. Weā€™ve tried to do some self education on all thatā€™s coming - Medicare, taxes, trusts, etc but feels like we need some trusted help to get to the finish line. Weā€™ve never used a financial planner and know itā€™s late to start that relationship now. Looking for validation or a critique of my plan which is to find a fiduciary advisor who can assess our situation and give us a fixed fee gameplan to follow for retirement with maybe some rightsizing along the way. We donā€™t anticipate starting active investing at this stage - we have $1.6MM in 401s, 8-10 more years working and goals are retirement, tax minimization and planning for our 10 yr old child. My question; is there a trusted way to find / vet a fiduciary? Prefer face to face but Iā€™d be open to virtual. Some initial visits to FINRA and financial advisor sites have produced some disappointing results so far.
