Two different customers wanted to fight me yesterday at work (part 1)
Post Body

I'm going to try and put the post as an conversation from what I can remember. I'm definitely not the asshole in the situation and definitely didn't deserve it.

Just to give a better understanding, I work in a Post office (UK) and do two days as volunteer work to help combat my depression and anxiety.

I finished serving an customer and I had to tie up bags before the postman arrived. I didn't notice the female customer came to my side because I was focused on doing the job at hand.

She was the next customer, however, this bulky guy goes straight to my colleague till and demands to be served.

I heard some noise in the background whilst out back and go back to the front, where the lady is upset not been dealt with. This is how the conversation starts

Bulky customer : Maybe if you didn't walk away then maybe she wouldn't be standing there waiting.

Me : We have a sign to say please wait until you're called and I definitely didn't call her so that was wrong of her, however, she is next.

Bulky : Well that's not my problem, that's her problem.

Me : She came before you, she is next, please wait until you're called.

Bulky : Don't fucking believe this.

Me : Excuse me? Would you like to repeat yourself?

Bulky : Fucking hurry up and deal with her.

Me : Okay do you see this sign here saying we don't tolerate abuse? You're doing that right now.

Bulky : Will you fucking hurry up!!!

Me : Okay I heard enough out of you. You're banned.

Bulky : You can't do that. (Sounded a bit shaken up by me saying that.)

Me : Yes I can. I don't need to be hearing it and this isn't the first time you came in here been abusive. Now leave. You will not be served here.

Bulky : I'm sorry, okay? (aggressive tone)

Me : That's all very well and good but you're still not going to be allowed any service here. Please leave.

Bulky : But I'm sorry for what I said.

Me : Unfortunately that changes things.

Despite saying this and the female customer now done. He still comes up to the till and thinks he is getting service. He puts his cards down and tries to say what he wants to do.

Me : Excuse me, I was very clear when I said you'll not be served here. Swearing, being rude to me or any member of staff is not part of the policy.

The first time you came in here you called me an fucking asshole because I couldn't hear you. I allowed it to slide and not do anything about it by causing issues. I'm not allowing it a second time.

You also been rude to the my colleague in the past because she didn't understand you and there was no need for any of that.

There are plenty of other Post Office that will help you and I'm sure they will not take the abuse you given me either. Now please leave. Thank you.

Bulky : Come out here!

Me : Nope I'm not gonna go out there. I have no need to, I'm going back to work. Thank you.

Bulky : I said fucking come out and fucking say it to my face.

Me : I said it to you here, I don't need to repeat myself or say it to you directly outside of the premises. Please leave. Thank you.

Bulky : Well you know what, you're still an fucking asshole.

Me : That's your opinion, our conversation is over. Thank you.

When he finally walked out, I felt really good about myself and thought okay well day can't get any worse...

Yeah... Famous last words.
