We had a meeting last week at work about what we can do to improve our store. I work at a place thatās part of a counter service chain, and our managers were talking about how our store has dipped in certain aspects compared to others. They emphasize the whole āmake it a great experience for the guestā, and all I can think during this meeting is āYou pay me $12 an hour, I literally donāt give a shit about the customersā experience anymore.ā
I feel under-appreciated at my job (which honestly applies to a lot of retail workers). I used to give it a 110%, but often times my managers ask me to stay an extra half hour past my shift when Iāve got things planned and I need to get started on. I wish theyād respect the hours Iām scheduled for and not tack on the extra time. Or they train someone on the grill, but not on the register, so during the lunch rush, sometimes Iām the only cashier available and it creates a build up.
Iām so over my job, and Iām actively looking for a new one. Good luck to everyone working Thanksgiving and especially Black Friday, may our sanity stay somewhat intact.
