I'm a 24 year old male, and have worked retail since I started working. So I work at a liquor store and here's one of my most noteworthy experiences.
It's a normal day when a young male walks in. Now he looks old enough to drink but young enough to verify. Once I see him I think to myself "yeah, I'm going to ID him." He walks up to the counter and I ask for his ID. He says it's in the mail and he doesn't have it yet. I feel bad but have to decline the sale due to a lack of photo ID. Surprisingly he takes it well and leaves. About a week later he comes back, and here's what happens.
Me: (classic customer service tone) hello, welcome back. (Since I recognized him)
Him: (enthusiastically) hey man, I got my ID this time!
Me: (politely) that's good to hear, can't wait to see it.
Him: (shows the most fake ID I have ever seen)
Me: (neutral tone) I'm sorry, but I can't take this
Him: (annoyed) why not?
Me: (neutral tone still, hiding my amusement at his stupidity) you said this is a new ID, yet there's no hologram in the corner, there's no barcode or magnetic stripe on the back, there's no issued date, ID number, there's no way this is real.
Him: (angrily) what do you mean it's not real?! This is rediculous!
Me: (getting annoyed) do you want me to have the cops confirm that?
Him: (surprised, with a hint of fear) why do you mean? Its real though!
Me: (still mildly annoyed, but keeping cool) do you want me to call the cops so they can check the ID for it's authenticity?
Him: (exit stage right)
Some people are just so stupid it's funny. I'm glad this happened because it gave me a fun story to share! I never felt like I was in danger or anything So the only reason I got annoyed by the end was because I stuff to do.
