How to Describe a Career "Mistake" in my Resume.

Post Body

Hi all.

So, I'm redoing my resume, following this general template: https://www.reddit.com/r/jobs/comments/7y8k6p/im_an_exrecruiter_for_some_of_the_top_companies/

and many of the resume templates I see elsewhere mirror the part in which the most recent job is the one that is described in the most detail, for obvious reasons.

However, here's my situation, and I'm in consumer/retail banking.

I was a top performer at a well-regarded regional bank from mid 2019 to July of this year. In numerous categories I was within the top five in the entire company among hundreds of people in my position. I left because another bank offered me 25% more money out of the gate, better benefits, and a shorter commute.

However, my new job, which I've been at for just over 90 days, is a catastrophe. I've been one of two employees in a branch that's supposed to have five or six. I have received no training at all. I am totally missing sales goals - which it must be said are totally unrealistic - because I can't actually do my job and most of our management/marketing team has quit, my manager is in over her head, it's just a total disaster. I am planning on getting out of consumer/retail banking entirely.

Obviously, this looks bad on a resume - but how do I spin it, given the circumstances? I can talk about my previous accomplishments in all of my previous jobs all day, but for the last three months (which looks bad enough) I've been doing nothing except for beating my head against the wall for 50 hours a week and collecting a check.

What do I do with this?

Thanks!
