So I have a chance at a really nice career, it looks like. Inside line on the job and all, word from someone in the company that resumes just aren't coming in much at all. The problem is... I have shit-all to put in a resume. I am assured they don't do background checks so I'm ignoring the fact that I have a felony up front(if they ask, I'm well-rehearsed in how to deal with that question in-person).
Thing is, the felony had a lot to do with my missing history in the resume. I couldn't find any work for years. Lots of years. I worked for myself, doing general labor and landscaping to get by(along with some sales work of an illicit nature) during this time. If not for my girlfriend supporting me during this time, I would have probably not been able to get my shit together and get my life going on the right foot. I got a job, though! A shitty, dead-end convenience store clerk job. Better than nothing. Not as good as this opportunity, though.
I love the field, the company is local and growing big time, but I really need to find a way to make my checkered past not look so... "Well where the hell is the history, man?" I knew how to fake the funk in a resume as an 18 year old with no experience, but at 27 with next-to-no legitimate experience, things are looking scary.
Can anyone help me out with my sell here? I'm just not sure what to fill the damned space with.
