Hello guys I’m currently a student attending clinicals atm. I have a question regarding NT suctioning. I want to give this patient a deep suction because i hear he is very congested and NT suction is PRN.. As I insert the catheter through the nasal trumpet I hit resistance or a blockage halfway through the catheter. I ask my patient to cough to so I can go deeper but he has a very weak cough. I try to lightly force the catheter deeper by pushing and twisting but it doesn’t go any deeper. Any tips and tricks or advice on way I can insert the catheter all the way to the carina or main stem bronchus?
Edit: he says ow has I lightly push it deeper but I don’t want to hurt him
