Ok so I am not finding any markings on this picture frame, but its got to be old, I just didn't know how old.

Here's what I know, the brass inlay to display the smaller size is an antique design and it looks authentically aged. Same for the wood. The wood does not scratch with a fingernail, so it's got to be a hardwood of some kind. The beveled gold leaf looks to be worn as expected for antiques.

Here's my question, do I open up the back of the frame(destroying the backing) and try to learn more or leave it alone?

Also, I'm not a picture frame guy, but I'm trying to learn, if this is just a cheapy say so!

Thank y'all
