I've struggled with depression for a while and I'm researching meds for self-medicating as I've had minimal results from prescribed meds

Buproprion was the only medication I've ever prescribed that ever helped much with the depression, but it wasn't enough to deal with it completely. I've also had a lot of success with (unprescribed) NMDA antagonists. With both ketamine and dxm I've noticed significant relief from depression for up to a 1-3 weeks after even low to moderate doses.

I hadn't thought to combine the two classes of drug until I saw the combination of dxm and buproprion was approved for treatment resistant depression.

Normally I'd just go to my psychiatrist and ask about it, but I have some concerns about this specific combo. For one, dxm (in spite of the antidepressants effects post-trip) gives me intense nausea until I vomit a few times even in extremely low doses (<60 mg); this isn't a problem using it recreationally a few times a year, but taking it daily, it would be difficult.

Second, is the fact that buproprion inhibits CYP2D6 which I think would lead to less dxm being metabolized to dextrophan (dxo). Most of the NMDA antagonist effects of dxm actually come from the dxo that it's converted into. I worry that with the buproprion inhibiting this conversion, I'd experience less of the NMDA effects of dxo and more of serotonergic effects of dxm.

In light of these concerns, I was wondering if anyone on here has considered similar combinations of an NMDA antagonist with an NDRI for depression? I was thinking something for daily use rather than occasional higher doses, but I'm curious to see what you all thought would be best.
