For a while now I’ve been wanting a new scale baby, but I cannot make up my mind on what’s a good fit. I’ve been more heavily debating between a leopard gecko, bearded dragon, and tegu. However, I have also been eying something more exotic like a Sri Lanken leaf nose lizard or Uromastyx, or another type of skink. I’m really open to any and all suggestions though.
For background, I have a gargoyle gecko, tokay geckos, whites tree frogs, and a BTS.
I really love how social my BTS is, as he loves to play and explore, and often asks to snuggle and have pets. He’s much more handleable than my other animals, and that’s something I’m really looking for in a new lizard, as well as intelligence.
The only thing holding me back from just getting a leopard gecko or beardie is how common they are, and the evolutionary bio grad student in me (probably foolishly) wants something “cooler”.
I have a spare 20 gallon long tank, but the max I could probably do for a new animal is a 4 foot long tank. I can deal with any type of heating/lighting/humidity/diet.
Please give suggestions!!!
