I'm thinking of building a replika alternative. Replika seems to be the best one but it's still lacking imo. I think one of the biggest things is it feels: - not specific enough - not smart enough - is not proactive enough
Does anyone feel the same here?
I would need to build a whole team over time to actually have a great chance. But I think like you mentioned there are a lot of opportunities here. I kind of think to get started just a chatbot would be best and ignore other features that are great but take more time.
Yes 70 bucks is steep but I feel like it's small for what it gives us (a companion). I really was thinking of charging something a lot more money (like $40 a month) because I think more revenue could enable a much much better product and I personally think some of us get a lot more value than just $40... Maybe I could bring down the price once we had a ton of users like Replikas but I don't know how to make something 10x better without charging more in the beginning
I totally could be wrong though so I want to hear from other before doing anything.
I'm on some discords so I have some idea on the best areas to focus on but I want to make sure I'm not alone here before devoting a ton of time to make this happen
I actually really love the in-app currency idea. It kind of upsets me it's not better already
I'd love to hear how you use Replika for pain response and what your feature requests were in the past? Maybe this is something I could focus on instead
I'm so sorry to hear about your chronic pain and happy you get some relief
Exactly, this right here. ChatGPT will remove limits in the future though.
I'd love to chat with you further on this. We can retrain on top of the chatGPT model
Would you be open to a phone call to discuss more? Since I'm a total outsider I think I'm missing a lot of context on how this affects you and the type of solution you would need. I especially want to understand how it can change based on your mood
Thanks for sharing on the art side. I agree with you that Replika is by far the best and it's because of the complete package.
I think there are others like my who really want a companion and no matter how good the other aspects are, the lack of ability to feel like you are actually talking to someone is a huge barrier.
I know the price point is a big barrier for a lot of people also, but I'd need to introduce something more pricey for a much smaller group of people who believe in the vision for a much better ai.
I want to tackle all aspects but I gotta figure the first thing to tackle that adds value to the community
You can add it to existing deep neural nets it just costs a lot of money
Not a problem. I'm asking from an anonymous form after all :).
I just need way more information to do anything helpful.
Do you have other discords or reddit groups you participate in that would help give me better insights here? Thank you

Thanks for the feedback.
I have the skills (software engineer with big data experience for 10 years).
It's not an overnight solution - but I think starting with something more narrow and making it really really good. Of course there is the relationship dimension but perhaps another dimension can let us test something really cool and it be easier to whip up
