We have a 5 camera 4k system set up for our food business which is in a container. I had the police come round recently to ask if our cameras had picked anything up as there had been an indecent exposure just around the corner for us. The victim had been shopping opposite us and said that the perpetrator had been in his van in the car park and had followed her when she left the shop.
I was able to search through our recordings and find the van. I was able to track it from one to the next and the next and so on, seeing the van pass the victim and then turn to follow her.
By going through the footage frame by frame we were able to make out the licence plate and the police officer confirmed the number matched the van and that he was local. The police were able to use our footage as evidence to arrest him.
I was at a community meeting this evening and the police told me that the perpetrator had actually done this 8 time around the county and that it was my footage that was the key piece of evidence that lead to his identification. He has been remanded into custody until his trial.
I am so glad that the cameras really came through and that as a result I was able to help catch the guy. 🙂
