House hunting

My current lease ends on 4/3 and I desperately want to find another place to live. When is the best time to go house hunting? I was thinking starting February 1st, but my fear is that I find a place too early and they wouldn’t want to let me rent because I lease doesn’t end until April. Any suggestions?
