New(ish) player here. What are some things you wish you had known when you first started?

I say newish, because I have technically played this game before. I picked it up shortly after it first released. I enjoyed it, but I never got too far into it because I got distracted by a bunch of other games lol. I don't really remember much. I remember that it's a 3rd person action rpg that draws some inspiration from Dark Souls and looters shooters. But I remember nothing of the story, or the deeper mechanics and systems in the game.

So pretend I'm a brand new player. What are some tips, or bits of (spoiler free) advice you would give someone who's just picked up the game for the first time?
