Does Engineer summon also count as decoy?

Hey Everyone!
Quick question. When the engineer puts his summon weapon down, do the enemys focus on it? Such as they do with the handler and the summonor archetype's minions?
Also, is the Invader a good second archetype class to pair with it?
Thank you all for any help you can provide. I just unlocked this and the invader so im excited to try both.
