Had a couple questions about reloading for 7.5x55 Swiss, since I'm going to purchase a rifle chambered in it. My intent is to shoot this at longer ranges, in excess of 500 meters.
I'm undecided between the 1911 rifle and the K31. From my understanding, the 1911 has a weaker receiver than the K31, while the K31 has a shorter throat and requires bullets to be seated deeper. I know both weapons can shoot GP11. However, for reloading, will the weaker receiver of the 1911 mean I can't shoot as powerful a load as the K31? And with the shorter throat of the K31, will I have to reduce powder to accommodate the deeper seating of the bullet, thereby reducing muzzle velocity?
Is there a particular reloading manual you recommend specifically for this cartridge? Both the Hornady and Berger manuals I looked at had loads, Sierra and Lyman's did not.
What powders and bullets have you found to be most effective at longer ranges? I'll be using PPU once-fired brass.
