How many of the several billion copies that the Bible sold are actually read?

Sometimes I see a religious person bring up the fact that the Bible is the most popular book. I believe this not to be the case, since "copies sold" does not necessarily cause "popularity", for example if a Bible is used as a prop in a play, it is not actually read. Do you actually think it's the most read book or not?
