I have seen the argument "Wouldn't bad people show go to hell be rewarded by the Devil?" since, you know, he's evil. I never really gave it much thought but yesterday this belief came to me.
God and the Devil both love humanity. God is just the one who gets to reward you for good behavior. While, the Devil has to be the bad guy who takes you to hell to punish you for your sins.
I have no idea if he ever releases you, but for the sake of this belief, I am going to say he does. He releases you back into the world with a new life to try again.
And God gives all souls in Heaven a choice. They can either stay here, in Heaven, or go back to Earth to live again.
In my mind this also makes Revelations make a whole lot more sense. At a certain point both God and Devil decide they want to start the world over, completely fresh. So God takes all the people who have been good, and the Devil erases everyone not already paying for their crimes in Hell.
This seems a lot like an experiment to me, neither force can intervene, and after an allotted amount of time they start over.
