Should I Move or Stay?

Me (21F) and my boyfriend (23M) have been together for 3 years and have a pretty happy and healthy relationship. I don’t see either of us going anywhere for awhile if this situation didn’t happen. I’m looking to attend grad school out of my city possibly even state and he just got promoted at his job here at home. I don’t think he’s going to want to leave and I absolutely don’t blame him but now I’m torn on what to do.

On one hand, i do want to leave my hometown to explore a different place but that means we would have to be long distance (which I’m not sure I feel comfortable doing- I would rather end the relationship). So I’m at a fork in the road. Either stay at home and maybe miss out on crucial years in the hopes that we work out or break up and move to where I want to move.

Now I’m not super opposed to staying here for a couple more years (grad school is only 2) I just am young and don’t know if a 3 year healthy relationship is worth changing my personal plans for. Looking for advice from folks who have more experience from life and can shine some light on this situation

Edit: I can still attend a good grad school in my hometown, but it isn’t ideal

TLDR: Boyfriend just got a promotion, I want to leave home from grad school. Should i stay here for a couple years or move?
