TL;DR: My boyfriend is really nice but we barely do anything fun when we're together and I dont think he puts enough effort into the relationship.

Full Story:

My boyfriend (m,23) is really nice as a person but I think i might be breaking up with him soon because I don't like how little effort he puts into the relarionship.

I.e making vague plans and not following through or being late. Sometimes barely paying attention to things im saying that are important to me when were together. Making jokes that I find very dismissive or unecessary i.e about our relationship or how we got together. Or sometimes just saying things that feel are mean or that I think you shouldn't say to someone you care about.

I don't know how to go about breaking up with him - because I think he'd be confused as to why and maybe hurt.

Because I don't know that he's aware how these things affect me or make me feel or doesn't see anything wrong with them.

I don't know how to broach the breakup as I've never really done this before, any advice would help.
