My [25F] family have started saying homophobic insults around me since I came out
I donât live with my family and I just feel really numb. I didnât consider them homophobic before I came out. This started off as mainly my siblings calling things âgayâ when they meant âstupidâ, and I thought it was just them being cringey teens so I asked them to stop and I assumed (wrongly) that my parents would also get them to stop this.
Now my motherâs just called my dad a âf*ggotâ out of anger and blamed me for âcreating an atmosphereâ about it. I know this is a small thing but now I feel like I canât bring any future girlfriends here and I feel so crushed. Any advice?
TL;DR: My mother and siblings have become homophobic since I came out a few months ago and it hurts.
