I [14F] am on Spring Break with my friend [14F] and her parents [50s M&F]. I don't know how to deal with knowing this is how most of my friends' families act.

So, basically as the title says.

My parents are divorced. My friend's (who from here on out will be known as Anna) parents are not.

Anna was my BEST FRIEND all though elementary school. However, in middle school, we grew apart. She's still a VERY good friend of mine, but no longer my BEST FRIEND.

Anyways, I'm currently sitting in an hotel room, on my phone, next to her, and mentally freaking out.

So, like I said, my parents are divorced. That is NOT the norm where I'm from. Most people just stay in unhappy marriages just so they don't have to deal with judgement.

Her parents are ACTUALLY HAPPILY MARRIED, which is AMAZING for them. But, it's making me feel worse about my situation at home, which isn't their fault.

My parents marriage wasn't really a marriage in my memory. It was more like roommates.

But, hearing her parents talk about possible sex reminds me even more that my family AIN'T NORMAL where I'm from.

It's not making me uncomfortable per say, but I don't know a better word to describe it.

I love her family, but talking about THIS is not the way to start off a week long vacation to see Anna's older sister Betsy.

So, in summery...

TL;DR: Spending week with friend and her family. CONSTANT reminder(s) that my split up family is not the norm where I'm from. Advice on how to deal for the time being?
