We're less than a week away from the beginning of the /r/baseball Winter Meetings game, so it's high time y'all get the basics. (I'm helping run the thing, so I know what I'm talking about.)

The general manager of /r/redsox is the Honorable /u/shinyjolteon1. He'll be the one wheeling and dealing on behalf of this subreddit.

/r/redsox has three free agents:

1. /u/LandsdowneStreet (Agent: /u/the_furry_stoner; TKV: 112,880, 12th overall)

2. /u/polelover44 (Agent: /u/the_furry_stoner; TKV: 43,900, 47th overall)

3. /u/NovaPrime15 (Agent: /u/DontGiveUpTheDip; TKV: 42,300, 49th overall)

Free agents were determined using the 50 users with the most total karma.

Each GM will be able to offer a QO of $10 million to each of their free agents (the money is fake, btw).* If a QO is declined, it functions much like actual free agency. If a QO is accepted, the player becomes another trade chip for the GM to throw around.

Each sub has a budget: a base of $120 million, plus $10 million for each QO offered.

So, if /u/shinyjolteon1 offers landsdowne and polelover QOs, but not nova, the /r/redsox budget will be $140 million. But if he offers all three QOs, the budget will be $150 million.

As for the rest of you that signed up, you'll be traded around starting November 28th. You can be traded multiple times, and we are guaranteeing that you'll get moved. You'll then spend the week of the Winter Meetings in your new sub. It's a way to get to know new teams and people.

That means there will be new people here during the WMs. Treat them nicely.

*Don't worry, the crazy throw-ins from last time will be there.
