People only have mixed feelings because it’s a large contract that didn’t have an immediate high return in the first year, and then he was injured the first half of this season so his timing wasn’t there. If those people would just take a step back, they would realize Masa is doing his thing and doing it pretty damn well.
They signed him and then had a surplus of outfielders and failed to bring in more right handed bats and good starting pitching. He is literally not the problem. He’s doing what he signed up for, and that’s being a professional hitter
When it comes to his durability and adjusting to the American baseball schedule: it’s not just the number of games, it’s the time zone changes. They never had to deal with that in Japan. Not to mention travel time was not that long either so their rest time was much more than how it is here, even when they have a day off.
Designated hitters don’t need to be good at defense when we have a team full of young players and a surplus of outfielders. Grissom and Story being out don’t help the lack of RHB but the addition of Jansen was good for that I think.
How is it a failure? The man was injured the first half and couldn’t get his timing. Second half he’s on fire. Not to mention killing the jankees. But yea no you’re right, total failure for sure.

Honestly just switch Raffy with Casas, I feel like Casas has a good enough arm lol. But Raffy will inevitably DH. Sooner or later they’re going to get a third baseman with platinum glove defense. But until then Raffy’s progress has been good, just wish Pedey was still coaching him honestly.
