You think it’s the least important position? Do you know how many plays a decent defensive first baseman saves? The stretches, the scoops, and bad throws? Yea let’s just put the worst glove there, when the whole rest of our infield is not stellar with defense and throws either. The only reason why 1B is so forgiving on defense is because the rest of the infield can throw straight. Big Papi was DH most of the time and not put at first base because of his not so great fielding and slow speed. Im so tried of all these metrics and over analysis. Just because the data is there doesn’t mean it’s useful or means anything in reality.
Oh yea this is definitely his last chance. Casas was looking really good against lefties and righties. His glove is there when he’s not distracted about other shit and focused on the game in the moment.
And the fact that people want to downplay his defense, crazy. He’s got a good enough arm for 3rd and short too, not just the glove (and the stretches!)

This is what I’ve been saying/thinking. He needs to be starting there consistently and then the bat will play again. The defense is there
