I have been going to Red Sox games since 1969 -- probably averaging about five a year. I loved that I could count on a sox game on TV or radio just about every day from April to September. I didn't flinch when games moved off of TV38 in the 80s and I had to pay NESN $10/month (seems kind of quaint now). I really didn't mind (that much) when they overpaid for players past their prime -- which seemed to be the biggest mistake being made until now. At least ownership and I had the same goal.
Now they have the 2nd most expensive ballpark in MLB and tell me that paying for players isn't a priority because they are selling the Fenway experience.
Like many others I also cut the cable cord this fall and was planning on paying the absurd $30/month to stream NESN; but not any more. I don't want to give them a penny when they obviously think of me as a rube that will spend my money on a lousy team because I always have (or because of the outdated and uncomfortable ballpark).
I'll read game stories and watch the standings. I honestly don't think I could stop being a fan, but I'm not giving any more money to a team that has such contempt for their customers.
Okay, bye.
