I live in Brevard County. Transplant from Worcester, MA. Huge Sox fan and the accent around here is a dead giveaway. I have worked in the local clubs and drive uber locally. Been around for over 12 years in Mr. Wakefield's hometown. More times than I can count, I have encountered someone that was either personal friends of 49 or his family. Either in the past, currently, or both. EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM say the exact same thing. That Tim was very special to them and more than an exceptional person far beyond baseball. I'm not talking about a handful. 10 or 20 random cases of people casually saying they know and like Tim. I'm talking well beyond that number, with a personal story to tell about him as a person and a friend. I am always proud to say I have followed his entire Sox career and marveled over that knuck every time it was moving. There is no comparison I can make to how positive the reactions are when his name is brought up to anyone in this area. If you are ever in Melbourne Florida Eau Gallie area, mention you like the Sox to a local. Hear it for yourself. He's made a tremendous impact on so many people all through his life and it deserves to be mentioned here for all of you. Tim Wakefield, a true class act and tremendous ball player, will be missed dearly.
