My request is almost similar to this one except that I would love for the ability for a subreddit to set its default sort order (for mobile and desktop) with the ability to make stickied posts stay on top if sort order is changed.
To explain:
I run a few subreddits that are best when they feature new content, including some that allow people to share their groups or servers. Defaulting to the "hot" sorting makes it a karma vote war to be visible, with a lot of people who would otherwise not have ever used reddit. The result is people that don't care about karma hurt others karma.
Having a subreddit setting to default to a "new" sort order, for example, would solve this.
Further, it would be very beneficial to make it so stickied posts remain at the top of the sort, regardless of what its default sort order is. So if the default is now "new" then stickied posts would be on the top for new.
TL;DR:
Reddit is growing to include many communities, including those which normally would avoid reddit, and "hot" is no longer the perfect one-size-fits-all solution for a subreddit's default feed.
