Post Body

I started migrating r/IAmA's removal reasons from moderator toolbox, and ran into some roadblocks. We can work around the first issue for now, but the second one is a bit of a non-starter for us:

There are no input fields or variables

  • Why is this a problem?
    • We utilize variables to save time and provide additonal context to the user
    • We use input fields so moderators can easily add additional context where it makes sense
    • e.g. Hello {author}! Stories about <input id="input1" value="this topic"> are very common, and should be posted in /r/CasualIAmA, /r/MiniBio, or /r/Self.
  • Proposed change(s)
    • Add in-context variables - see the existing moderator toolbox documentation on tokens for suggestions.
    • Add moderator input fields - sometimes removal reasons need additional info/context/comments fom a moderator, and having a little input box for the moderator to add this is helpful. The existing removal reason is editable, but having defined input boxes can save time.
      • This is lower priority than the tokens, since you can edit the entire reason during posting, but is a "nice to have" feature

Removal PMs are sent from the moderator, rather than the subreddit

  • Why is this a problem?
    • If a user replies to a PM sent directly from a moderator, it'll go back to that individual moderator, rather than modmail
    • If the moderator who did the removal isn't around, the user won't understand why they're not getting a response
    • Moderation is done as a team, and as much communication as possible should happen with the whole team, rather than individual moderators (which is why we have modmail!)
  • Proposed changes
    • Make this come from the subreddit's modmail, rather than an individual user
