This post has been de-listed
It is no longer included in search results and normal feeds (front page, hot posts, subreddit posts, etc). It remains visible only via the author's post history.
Typing anything in the current search bar gives no response, so no options or suggested pop downs appear. I have also found no way to change the search options before you actually search, so the relevant search options do not appear until after you search. Even then, if you find no results, the options will not appear (this might be an oversight).
What I find the worst about the search bar is that it encourages users to "Find a community, post, or user" but does not provide an easy way to do this.
My suggestions:
- Add search options either in the empty space of the search bar or in a pop down menu which appears as soon as the user starts typing.
- Add suggested results in a pop down menu, categorized by format (posts, communities, users)
- Add an easy method to search by post, community, or user (both a selected option and automatically detecting the prefixes /r/ and /u/ would help)
Potentially combining the suggested subscribed subreddit search bar functionality with the already present search bar might also work.
