Getting the active member of subreddits

I want to get the active user of any subreddits. I've tried https://www.reddit.com/r/subreddit/about.json.
But even with the auth token, I'll get Too Many Requests response (definetly less than 100 requests per minute).
I'm getting the token from https://www.reddit.com/api/v1/access_token with username and password, and adding the Authorization token in the header. Or is there other endpoint that I'm supposed to use?
