not really but I do believe that they’re at least extremely rare. everyone I know with an extreme allergy has only ever gotten a “reaction” once they become aware they’ve been in contact with the thing they’re allergic to, but have been completely fine in instances where they did not know they had been in contact with it. full disclaimer i probably feel this way because I grew up with a mother with severe allergies and for some reason instead of testing me they assumed I had them too. still to this day I get placebo allergic reactions from celery and parsnip. I also had a bowl of pasta yesterday and feel completely fine despite having a “gluten intolerance”🙄🙄🙄 honestly sometimes all you need is a positive attitude
it’s a lot about exposure too i think. i basically made myself “allergic” to wheat because my doctor suggested I stop eating it for a while to see if it was the cause of some health issues I was having. it helped a bit, but when I tried eating it again I had a horrible reaction to the point where i avoided it like the plague for a few years (until last night)
yeah I 100% think it’s often a fleeting thing unless you’re like a sickly immunocompromised freak. my mom almost died from eating celery once but has accidentally ingested it several times since and nothing happened🤷♀️

I’m sure they’re real for some but one of my friends in middle school would constantly freak out about her peanut allergies while not realising the granola bars she brought to every field trip where full of them. once someone pointed this out she all of a sudden couldn’t breathe and had to go to the hospital lol
