Referrals Not Enough
Post Body

Been looking for a few months and have had a few referrals at some companies and also applying a lot and talking to recruiters on LinkedIn.

Iā€™ve had several interviews come from just applying cold and NONE of the referrals have even taken the first step to phone interview. Just sending me rejection emails.

I know thereā€™s the whole ā€œyour resume needs to match the role blah blah blahā€ but I find it really interesting that Iā€™m getting interviews from cold applying and recruiters reaching out to me on LinkedIn, but NOTHING from referrals from people that work at the company.

Referrals used to mean something but I guess at this point if itā€™s not the actual hiring manager referring you then it doesnā€™t matter.

Anyone see something similar?
