Been looking for a few months and have had a few referrals at some companies and also applying a lot and talking to recruiters on LinkedIn.

I’ve had several interviews come from just applying cold and NONE of the referrals have even taken the first step to phone interview. Just sending me rejection emails.

I know there’s the whole “your resume needs to match the role blah blah blah” but I find it really interesting that I’m getting interviews from cold applying and recruiters reaching out to me on LinkedIn, but NOTHING from referrals from people that work at the company.

Referrals used to mean something but I guess at this point if it’s not the actual hiring manager referring you then it doesn’t matter.

Anyone see something similar?
