I small marketing agency wants to hire me as a contract-to-hire position, and they want me to start basically immediately. I believe they will be moving the 3 recent hires and myself to W2 in the beginning of 2024, as they are basically fortifying the business as a proper growing agency vs a few consultants who came together to form a brand for themselves.
My question - if I sign a 1099 contract, and start working for them immediately, is there ramifications for quitting almost immediately? I'm in the process of interviewing for essentially the same role at a much more established agency with larger clients that are more on par with my resume (and other jobs where the pay is nearly $25k more). My issue is obviously, I need this first job - and have no clue if I'll even be offered the roles at these other places of interest. But let's say I did for the sake of the inquiry. I've asked to start at a later date (to give myself time to do additional interviews have asked those companies to speed up the process due to my offer of employment), but the agency has really good reasons for me to start next week (there are a lot of client kickoffs that pertain to exactly what my role will be focused on).
I really want to look out for myself here.
