Was told I might not get hired because I'm a male
Post Body

So I went to an interview at my local hospital to become a phelobotomist, and during the interview they took me to the lab in the lower section and gave me a tour. I noticed every single person in there was female, which I assumed is pretty normal because healthcare as such. Later in the interview I asked them if they had any men working in the lab/phlebotomy section and they said "one, and he's been here for years. To be straight up with you, you might not get chosen because other women have applied, and patients typically like their nurses and phlebotomists to be female. You will still be considered regardless." And I thought that was very strange. Is that usual? I don't really know how to take that.
