I have 13 months clean from IV Heroin and Cocaine and also from drinking alcohol. I have been going to the same outpatient facility with the same counselor since I got out of rehab 9 months ago. Since COVID began we have been having our meeting over ZOOM, so we could all see each other. My counselor is in recovery from heroin. Over the last three weeks I, along with other people, have watched him descend back into use. At first he just seemed tired. Then he would start the group late. Then he would end it early, yawning all the time. Then he started slurring his words a lot. Nodding off in group. I asked him a number of times if he was ok and what was going on, he assured me everything was ok. Then he started taking a night off here and there. We meet 3x a week. Now he’s out and management doesn’t know for how long. I got a call from his boss, she knows something is going on. She wants me to talk to her, give a statement. I want to tell her the truth. And I know if I relapsed he would tell whoever needed to be told that I did. And I know they will help him get the help he needs. But I can’t help but feel like I’m betraying him. What should I do?
