Heather/Mormonism/Jack’s Mission
Post Body

Let’s talk about Heather questioning Jack going on a mission. I would like to have some input maybe from ex or maybe current mormons.

So I did not grow up in Utah, however I grew up with a ton of mormons. There was a mormon church in my town and a huge community all in my area of mormons. As a kid, we didn’t realize that our friends and other kids we knew were mormon. By high school we all knew who was mormon, but they were all like very normal and it wasn’t out of the norm at all. But once we got older in high school most of us started seeing through it and learn more about how weird it is and the morning meetings and just all the odd stuff. and then we would question our friends like “you’re not gonna go on a mission are you?” “you’re not gonna get married right after high school are you??” I’m not sure if it was because of pressure, but they would almost always answer, “NO! I don’t want to go on a mission and I won’t get married.” BUT almost all of them do. I’ve been invited to multiple weddings (the celebration, we’re not allowed in the temple). EVEN the ones who were def not following the mormon teachings. And i’ve seen almost all of my classmates go on missions after proclaiming that they weren’t. I mean i’m dancing around it, but let’s call mormonism what is it. It’s a cult.

So back to Heather, when she was talking to Whitney she said that going on a mission is “pretty orthodox.” I guess my question is, is that true? Is going on a mission only really for DEVOUT mormons? I know countless of people who went on missions who in high school told me they weren’t going to be mormon when they grew up. I feel like that almost where Jack is. Why do they go in these missions? Are they getting manipulated? I’m just confused I guess.

So I agree that Heather sticking her nose into Lisa & Jack’s business about the mission isn’t a good idea, BUT i do think it’s necessary to say something. I think people like to downplay what the mormon church actually is….talking to your friend about her son joining essentially a cult and spending two years practically being abused by the mormon church i think is a pretty brave thing to do.…(if you know anything about those wack missions you know they treat those young people horribly.) The mormon church is abusive and protecting young people from that is not a bad thing.

This is word vomit so hopefully you guys get what i’m saying. Mormonism is bad and protecting young people from joining it is not a bad thing.

Disclaimer: i’m not defending heather cause i mostly think she’s wack, BUT mormonism needs to be exposed and talked about and I think she has a right to do so. Including commenting on those missions. but i’m a lisa barlow stan so…
