So I have a property I’m looking at buying and likely making an AirBnB because of its location, but the inspection revealed that the crawlspace will need foundational repairs because of some sagging.
Seller wants to sell as-is and knock off 20k (185 to 165k) to offset the potential repair (based on mostly a guesstimate cost—house is single story 800sq ft). I had a company come out but they said I should probably get a structural engineer to assess completely. To get it up to code, it seems like they’d need to take on everything, but if I’m looking at it as a short term rental, do you think it’s fine to try and spot fix? I’m assuming by doing this, I’d be taking on the risk when selling in the future.
Nothing is noticeable on the inside of the home, and no other glaring issues.
I’m sure I’m missing details so let me know if I need to share more info. Thanks!
