My reactive pup doesn't go to a vets office. We have a mobile vet that comes to our house for regular check ups, and we muzzle the dog for those. Usually I do more active muzzle training for a month or so before those vet visits, but my girl is very easily stressed and doesn't do well with the muzzle or any major restraints such as a tech grabbing her to hold her still.
She recently had an allergic reaction where her face and tongue were swollen over a few days and it would come and go but resurface in the evening. It never got so bad that we felt we needed to take her in to an emergency vet, but it got me thinking about how that would go if we had to.
What does everyone do for their human and dog reactive dogs in emergencies? I try to do what I can for her with the day to day stuff to make sure she isn't stressed, but I worry about what it would be like in a case where she got hurt or needed urgent care. Really just looking for any advice or any experiences/tactics that worked well for people and their pups!
