I am so dang tired of people downplaying things when I say “he is not friendly” “he doesn’t like people in his space”, etc.
I had a new cleaner come in today and at the end I told her we were going to have to wrap things up so I could go pickup my dog (from my mom’s house). She asked why he wasn’t home, I mentioned that he isn’t friendly, he’s reactive, one of the ways of keeping him safe and calm is by keeping his space HIS space and not bringing new people in without proper introductions etc. She said “oh well I always clean with dogs around I’ve never met a dog that doesn’t like me!” I said “he has a bite history” and she quickly replied “oh dogs love me he would be fine!”
I’m so tired of people playing it off and downplaying everything. What is your normal response to those, or similar, statements?
