If your not experienced with dogs please do not respond.

So I have 4 dogs, all of which are very sweet, loving, gentle dogs. This morning, my smallest (chihuahua) got her paw stuck in an air vent. She was screeching and yelping, I reached down trying to get to her to get her foot out. my bigger 70lbs dog, little over a year old, bit my hoodie, thankfully missing my side due to the hoodie being baggy. There was enough force it ripped the hoodie in two small spots. There was no warning, no growl, nothing. After he released (approx 5 seconds) he backed up and ran. Since he has acted, and by since I mean immediately after, he has been his normal goofy self.

My wife and I have a 9 year old and my wife is now scared to keep the pup. I told her he was scared, the injured chihuahua is (believe it or not) the alpha, and he in the moment could not discern that it was in fact not me hurting her, and it was him trying to protect her.

Any advice on this is much appreciated.
