Permanent hair follicle damage

I am the type of person who can be very back and forth between removing my body hair and keeping it, and it's for this reason that I would never get something like laser hair removal because it is something so permanent, but I have a question about certain temporary hair removal methods like waxing. Is it true that if you wax regularly for years that eventually your hair will stop growing, or won't grow back the way it looked before? I don't want to do something that will permanently change how my body hair looks. If this were to occur, could there be any way to fix the damaged follicles and make the hair grow the way it did previously? If anyone here has done waxing before choosing to go natural, do you notice any difference? I know that waxing can make the hair grow back slower, but will it eventually return to its original state if left alone??

I’ve been getting Brazilian waxes for the past 6 years and the hair still grows back. I get a pretty big bush, so I’d say it hasn’t affected me
