Seems like the RP community is converging on high fruit/high sugar diets.
It makes sense. Speaking from my personal experience, I came to RP after years of struggling on various vegan diets. The form of veganism that made me feel the best, however, was fruitarianism, if only for a relavitely short time, which is a very common experience for fruitarians, I find.
For my first 6-9 months as fruitarian, I felt phenomenal, borderline euphoric at times, frankly. Had the energy of a 10 year old, happy for no reason, perfect mental clarity. Really high libido. Perfect sleep. After that 9 month mark, I really began to fall off (low temps, low libido, teeth falling out, muscle wasting). This is almost a universal experience for all fruitarians I’ve spoken to.
My theory is this: Fruitarianism gives you all of the sugar your metabolism would ever need, but is sorely lacking in protein, zinc, selenium, and tends to be a bit lower in calcium. If you’re a new fruitarian coming off of eating a standard diet, your body may have stores of these nutrients on which it can sustain itself for a period and keep your metabolism humming at a healthy level, but eventually those stores run out. This is why many fruitarians feel great at first, then rapidly fall off as mentioned.
The RP perspective solves this problem. Keep the fruit, and add milk and some lean beef to fill in the nutritional gaps, and you’ve got Fruitarianism RP. A perfect metabolic diet model.
Thoughts? I’d be interested to hear from other former fruitarians/vegans. Seems like most people on the RP forums come from a keto/carnivore background.
