So my golden puppy's 4 months, got her at 10 weeks and she was willing to go on raw about 11 weeks I think? And has been on it 100% (minus some training treats for cost sake 💀) since then, she gets Bella & Duke formula (white fish, lamb, beef, chicken, salmon and duck) but every now and then she gets a small portion of her normal food replaced with mince (usually beef or chicken) just to make it last till the next delivery.
So she's not got major anal gland issues, I've seen her scoot like twice in the entire time I got her but it was just for a second. It's just that sometimes, and it's usually when I'm holding her or she's climbing me, she'll have an expression of it and Oh Really Would Rather she Didn't. But she's not uncomfortable during the day, she doesn't seem itchy or bothered by that area.
I've heard that it's best not to get puppy's anal glands expressed because that can cause anal gland issues in adulthood and also I'd rather have solutions that helped her function rather than manually stepping in. Her poops are firm and great but she does very little amounts, so I was thinking maybe that's the issue- there's just not enough to actually express them.
So does anyone have any suggestions on,,, that? I guess? My only idea I could come up with was using some kibble which obviously I want to avoid, especially since last time she had to have some kibble (cuz a delivery was delayed) she got massively bloated and gassy for that night. And of course her weight is doing amazingly so I wouldn't want her to get fat on it 😔👊
